We arrived in Port Luis, Mauritius on March 23rd. Took a bus tour of the city where we passed the Champs de Mars race track and stopped at the Citadelle (Fort Adelaide). Then we drove North to Grand Baie beach area the town’s Bazar. On the way back we stopped at the Botanical Gardens and back to the ship. I then took the shuttle bus to the waterfront where I had a bit to eat and tasted the local brew with Chuck – Chuck and his wife Diane are seated with me for the daily dinner meal on the ship.

Reunion

2014-03-24_083225_10868We then sailed to La Possession, Reunion on March 24th. I took a tour which took us to the town of St. Gilles and les Bains – the top beach resort in Reunion. On the way we visited the Sailor’s Cemetery where the pirate Olivier “the Buzzard” Levasseur is buried. In the town, which was mostly closed because nothing is open Monday mornings, I wandered around taking photos of the town and buying some post cards. Near noon, the shops started to open and I found a local pub for a local brew. We then drove back to the ship. I went up to the terminal building and found the immigration office to have my passport stamped. I asked “Can you please stamp my passport?” To which he replied “I can,  and I will!” He caught me in the improper use of English!  It was back to the ship for the sailaway and Durban, South Africa.
