Recounting Days 87 & 88 – Cape Town,South Africa.

2014-04-01_101230_11470Desmond Tutu boarded in Durban and sailed with us to Cape Town.  Also Stein Kruse (CEO of Holland America Lines) and his wife Linda, also boarded in Durban. We were provided lectures and meetings with them on the way to Cape Town.  We arrived in Capetown on April 1st for two days. Tuesday the 1st, I took the courtesy shuttle to Victoria and Albert Waterfront.  looked around the area, had a pastry and coffee at and outdoor cafe and booked a tour for wine tasting in near the town of Stellenbosch.  Grabbed lunch at A Scottish pub and partook in the local brew. In the afternoon, took the wine tour to the wineries of Zevenwacht and Delheim. Got a tour of the town and tasted some very good wines. Then next day Went back to the Waterfront and walked around the 5K running path getting a good tour of the waterfront area. I wanted to take the tram to the top of Table Mountain, but the cloud was over the top of the mountain and I did not want to try looking at the city through the fog. Did some last minute souvenir shopping and headed back to the ship a couple of hour early.I would not mind spending more time in Capetown. There were a lot of things I did not get to see and do – museums, a run to Cape of Good Hope, the Ostrich Ranch and much more. Pictures below:

Next Blog will be on Walvis Bay and St Helena.
