Days 40-41 Brisbane, Australia

2014-02-14_094610_6231On our sea day, we had another Speed Wine Tasting with a Valentine theme. A good time was had by all!

Took a ride on the Wheel of Brisbane, We arrived inland to Brisbane after a 50 mile river cruise from the ocean. This time we were tided up to the pier with the debarkation point just 100 feet from my stateroom. I caught the 9 AM shuttle to downtown Brisbane and tried to follow the list of places to see, that I had prepared. I first dropped off postcards and noticed that I had somehow corrupted  my sister’s mailing address. I decided to text to see if I could get the address in time to mail the card. She came back to me within minutes with the address and a list of cousins and cities near Brisbane where thy live along with a phone number for one of them. Wouldn’t you know it- my phone battery had given out. I guess I was not meant to make a call. I tried to figure out how to use the local phone system to call for information, but it was a little more complicated than I had time for. The cousins were all located about 60 miles away and I had just over 4 hours left before I had to get back to the ship. I would have very little, if any, time to spend with them. I decide to continue taking my walking tour. visited the Botanical Gardens, crossed over to the South Side, took a ride on the Wheel of Brisbane,  stopped off for lunch at The Ship Inn and a local beer – Fat Yak.  Then walked back over the bridge to Roman Parkland for a chu chu train ride. and roamed around other sites in the city. Finally at the end of the day took the City Cat – a catamaran, ride along the Brisbane River back to the ship. Later that evening we had another Formal Dinner with Piano Bar Entertainer Debbie providing the dinner music and then turned in after a long day.
